Meditation Music License for Commercial Use: The Simple Version
If you want to use meditation or relaxation music in something public or paid, a video, a podcast, an online course, your social posts, or playback in your studio or spa, you need a commercial license, not a personal one. At Bojana Music a Commercial license is a one time payment of $69 for a single track. You get WAV and MP3 files plus a written license PDF in your name, and one promise most free music cannot make: I never register my tracks with YouTube Content ID or any similar system, so your work will never get a copyright claim from me. Apps and other uses that redistribute the music at scale are handled separately, so if that is you, get in touch.
What “commercial use” actually means for music
The word commercial trips a lot of people up. It does not only mean you are selling something. For music, commercial use means any use that is public, shared, played to clients, or attached to content that can earn money.
So you are in commercial territory if you put a track in a YouTube video, a podcast episode, an online course, a paid meditation session, or if you play it during a class or in your treatment room. Even a free video on a monetised channel counts. A personal license, the standard purchase on every track, is only for your own private listening at home. It does not cover any of the above.
This matters because a lot of the calming music floating around online sits in a legal grey area. You download a track, you do not really know who made it or what you are allowed to do with it, and you find out the hard way when a claim lands on your video. A clear license removes that guesswork.
Personal, Commercial, or Business, at a glance
Every track I release can be licensed three ways. Most people need one of the first two.
| Personal | Commercial | Business | |
|---|---|---|---|
| For | Your own private listening | Your own content and clients | A whole business, ongoing |
| Covers | Home use, on your own devices | Videos, podcasts, courses, social, in house playback | The full catalog, one location |
| Files | MP3 | WAV and MP3 | WAV and MP3, full catalog |
| Price | From $9.99 a track | $69 per track, one time | $249 a year, per location |
| License PDF in your name | Yes | Yes | Yes |
If you are a creator or a solo practitioner licensing a track here and there, Commercial is almost always the right choice. If you run a studio, spa, clinic, or retreat and you use music every day across many tracks, the Business license usually works out simpler and cheaper than buying track by track.
What the Commercial license covers
A single track Commercial license lets you use that track, worldwide and for good, in your own commercial and public work. In plain terms, that includes background music in your videos and films, on YouTube or anywhere else, including monetised content, plus podcasts and online courses, your social media posts, and playback inside your own business, a yoga or meditation class, a massage or spa session, a sound bath, a hypnotherapy session, or your studio’s background sound.
It is written to cover solo practitioners using the music in their own work with clients. Teachers, therapists, and practitioners are exactly who it is for.
The license is non exclusive, which is what keeps it affordable. I can license the same track to other people too, and that is normal for this kind of music. It is also perpetual, so once you have licensed a track, your right to use it does not expire.
What it does not cover
A license is only clear if the limits are clear too, so here they are.
You cannot resell, share, or redistribute the music files as files, on their own or inside a sample pack, library, or template. You cannot sublicense the track to someone else or claim you composed it. You cannot use the music to train or generate audio with any AI or machine learning system. And you cannot register the track with YouTube Content ID, Facebook Rights Manager, or any similar system, the same promise I make to you works both ways.
Two uses that people often ask about sit outside the standard Commercial license on purpose. Meditation and relaxation apps are not covered, because an app redistributes the music to many listeners at scale, which is a different kind of use. The same goes for anything else that redistributes the music widely rather than using it as background in your own work. If that is what you are building, that is not a no, it is a conversation, write to me and we will find the right fit and price.
The Content ID promise, and why creators care
This is the part worth slowing down on, because it is the real reason people choose licensed music over free downloads.
YouTube Content ID is an automatic system that scans videos and matches them against a database of registered music. If a track in your video is registered by someone, you can get a copyright claim, even if you had every right to use the music. Claims can put ads on your video that you do not earn from, or block it in some countries. Free and library tracks get registered all the time, sometimes by third parties who did not even make them, and creators end up fighting claims on videos they were allowed to post.
I keep every track free of Content ID and every similar system, deliberately, and the license asks you to do the same. That means the music you license from me will never trigger an automated claim from my side. For anyone building a channel, that peace of mind is the whole point.
Why license from the composer
Most royalty free meditation music comes from large libraries and subscription bundles. They work, but you are one of thousands of customers, the same tracks are in countless other videos, and if you ever have a question there is a support ticket, not a person.
I compose every track myself, and I license it to you directly. The tracks are original, tuned to real solfeggio frequencies rather than labeled and left alone, and when you write with a question about how you can use one, you are writing to the person who made it. Your license PDF carries your name and order number, so you always have proof of your right to use the music. That is a different relationship from downloading a file and hoping for the best.
How to license a track
It takes a couple of minutes. Browse the tracks, open the one you want, and choose the Commercial option instead of Personal on the product page. Complete checkout, and you get an instant secure download with your WAV and MP3 files and your stamped license PDF. Keep that PDF, it is your proof.
If you want the whole catalog for one venue, the Business license is a single yearly purchase. And if your use is bigger than one location, or you are building something like an app, get in touch first and we will sort out the right license together.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a commercial license to use the music on YouTube?
Yes, if the video is public or on a monetised channel. The personal license is for private listening only and does not allow uploading to YouTube. The Commercial license covers video, including monetised content.
Will I get a copyright claim if I use your music?
Not from me. I keep every track out of YouTube Content ID and similar systems, and the license asks you to keep it out too, so your use is never hit by an automated claim from my side.
Is one Commercial license enough for several videos?
Yes. A Commercial license for a track covers your own content across platforms, for as many of your own videos, episodes, and posts as you like, for good. It covers one track, so if you want to use several different tracks, you license each one.
Can I use the music in my meditation or relaxation app?
Not under the standard Commercial license. Apps redistribute the music at scale, so they are handled as a custom arrangement. Write to me and we will find the right fit and price.
What is the difference between the Commercial and Business license?
Commercial is a one time $69 per track, for your own content and client work. Business is $249 a year for one location and gives you the whole catalog on an ongoing basis, which is simpler if you use a lot of music every day in one venue.
Do I own the music after I license it?
No. A license is a right to use the music, not ownership of it. I keep the copyright, and you get clear, written permission to use the track within your tier.
